Fun Pattern! Work Appropriate!

I'm 5'4'' with a 31.5" waist and 42" hips, so I bought the 32 Reg on a whim while buying dungarees. The waist sits comfortably just below my ribs with that nice high-cut look, and even though I have to roll the cuffs up a little, with the tapering leg these are actually really flattering in the shape and look great with my boots. I wore them out the day I got them and they were very comfortable and worked great! The pattern and color really don't make these look like jeans. I feel like I can wear these with a button up and blazer and walk around work without issue while still having some fun personal flair!

Incredible, stunning print, uncomfortable, strangely-proportioned cut

The print on these is absolutely stunning, which is why I haven't been able to bring myself to return them, and have worn them a few times already.

Unfortunately, the cut on these is absolutely inexplicable. They are a really thick denim with no give, so the fabric sits really awkwardly, and like other reviewers, I've found a weird 'shelf' of fabric sticking out underneath the waist band above the bum. Plus the legs are really strange - there is so much fabric on the thighs, and it is so stiff, that it sort of stands outwards before collapsing in on itself at the knee. Hopefully it will soften a bit with washing. There is a LOT of excess fabric on the legs on these and I would describe them as a fairly wide-legged fit.

I do have sensory issues, so my opinion should perhaps be taken with a pinch of salt, but the thick waistband, which has absolutely no give, digs in and I have to undo the button when I'm sitting down - which is fine, it just means these are 'going out clothes' only, and not something that can be worn at home.

I tried two sizes, the 24-inch waist and the 26-inch. Unlike other reviewers, I didn't find the 24-inch massive, but they are not true to size, and measure 25inches around the waist, which is fine when standing up (I am a 25-inch waist) but uncomfortable when sitting down as they are such an unforgiving fabric. So ideally, I would have sized up, but the next size up was comically massive, so maybe the jumps between sizes are too big?

Personally, I find this kind of a weird design for a company that brands itself on making comfortable clothes, as the strange proportions and the generally strange cut, along with the thick, unyielding fabric means these are not comfy at all (although again, they may be fine for people who don't have sensory issues...)

Also, I know it's just not possible to offer infinite sizing options, but offering a longer length in the smaller sizes would be amazing if that's possible one day.

I have kept these as I absolutely love the pattern, and I will get a lot of wear out of them. They feel sturdy and long lasting. It's just a shame that I have to take them off when I get home, to change into some comfy baggies. And it would be great to see the weird back 'shelf' removed.

Sharing pics of the 24 and the 26 to show off the massive difference in sizing.

Agree with the other viewer who said these would have been great as Camdens - way cooler than this strange baggy fit, and super comfy because of the lack of digging in waistband and the stretchy fabric.

Hi Maria,

Thank you so much for leaving us a review on the Dana Jeans, we really appreciate your input on the fit. We are sorry to hear the sizing wasn't quite right in both pairs you ordered. We will be reviewing our tall and petite offerings too, however it's likely that this won't be until next year. We have begun our research into Petite and hope to roll this out across most products in the future. We’ll update you through email and social media when we have a date for this.

In the meantime, if you'd like any help with your return, do drop us an email,
Many thanks again,

Very tight leg

I'm 5'8" and 155 lbs, normally wear a pant size 28/29 US. I have the Dana jeans in this pattern, which is great btw, and in lavender, both in size 28L. Based on the model images and the size guide I was really confident that I'd love these, but unfortunately the fit for each is disappointing! The photos of the models show what appears to be a lovely relaxed leg with lots of room, which is exactly the style of pant that works great for my pear shape. Somewhere between a straight leg and a baggy flare is the sweet spot, and that's what these appear to be at least from the photos. Instead, I've found that these pants fit very tight, closer to a skinny jean, and they hug the calf and thigh. If I sized up I know the waist and hips would be way out of whack. Technically, these pants fit me, but the super skinny fit is not what I was going for and it's not all that comfortable. I'm bummed because I love the baggier, more relaxed look on these models but these jeans don't sit like that at all on my body. I'm sure it's different for every body type but that's two cents! L&Y: What if u messed around and made more of the Kia trousers? That shape/fit is heaven in a pant. Food for thought. :)

Please make these with a stretchy waist

I love the pattern and the style is great. I ordered the size down after reading reviews and they fit well. However, they are not super comfortable because there’s no give in the waist (I think this is an older design), which is fine when you’re standing but while sitting they gape at the back and cut in front.
