The first drop of our WAHP x L&Y Collab is now live!
We’re so happy to be collaborating with the fabulous We Are Hairy People - the Bristol-based independent clothing brand and social enterprise, founded by artist Sarah Caulfield, that champions using art and fashion as therapy for mental wellness. All work is made-to-order, organic, ethically produced and plastic-free!
Instead of over-producing brand new items, we wanted to get creative and up-cycle some of your favourite styles; our Addison jeans and Stanley t-shirt. Each piece is made to order and entirely unique, using hand-dyeing and hand-painting techniques by the artists in the studio.
Due to this, this particular mini collection is priced higher than our regular limited edition collections – as a collaboration with an independent art studio and considering the labour and higher costs that go into creating ethical pieces in the UK. All products are hand painted and ice-dyed by the We Are Hairy Team of artists – who are super passionate about paying more than the living wage. As a living wage employer, we are fully on board with this! Eco-dyes are also a little pricier than standard dyes.
How many will there be, we hear you ask? This will be a small first drop with limited sizes as WAHP can up-cycle only so many at a time! As we haven't made new pieces but are up-cycling existing favourites already in stock - there is also limit on available sizing. To make sure there is fair chance of getting what you are after, we're going to release this collection across a couple of dedicated drops. So don't worry! — if you miss out on bagging your size this time around, you’ll be able to sign up to be notified when the next drop lands soon.
Sarah and the WAHP team will be getting to work on the second drop over the next month or so, and we'll keep you in the loop if you're signed up for alerts!
These are our much loved Addison Jeans, which have been hand ice-dyed in beautiful marbled tones of rich purple, pink and blue, creating completely unique patterns of fuchsias and mauves which we just cant stop looking at! Each piece is one of a kind and a complete masterpiece within itself! See our Instagram to see videos of the mesmerising ice-dying process!
Addison have a super high-waist shape with a thick sturdy waistband with two L&Y logo buttons for closure. Really roomy structured hips (these have been called the "magic trousers" by those with big hips and those without!) and a wide but tapered leg - long and perfect for rolling up. Two deep pockets, thick belt loops and L&Y logo on the back.
Made from thick, hardwearing, denim-weight 100% organic cotton - your new fave pair of jeans! Smart and tailored yet casual and comfy.
The beautiful Addison Silhouette is modelled on a lovely vintage pair of Jeans from Lucy's wardrobe. This means like most vintage pieces they do run a little small, we strongly advise using the measurements on our size guide when choosing which size to buy, please don't just go for your usual size, if in doubt size up.
Inseam is 30".
Due to the nature of ice dye, each piece is completely unique and will differ to the individual pieces photographed.
Please wash inside out with similar colours in case of colour running, on a low spin cycle and a short wash. Keep inside out when washing and drying - see more details about the care of your L&Y clothing here.

These are as great as I hoped they’d be
I'm so glad I bought these. I'm also so glad I listened to the reviews. I ordered a size lower than the size chart recommended based on other buyers' reviews, and my ice dyed pants fit perfectly. I wear a U.S. 14, the chart wanted me to get an 18, and I got a 16. I'm 5"7 and I weigh 185 lbs. They sit high and secure on my waist, the long line of the fly/butt is comfy, and they hit at a point on my ankle where it's both acceptable to leave them unrolled or to roll them up. I wear them up to five times without washing and they don't sag. MAN, are they gorgeous. Also... How do these packages get here so quickly? I live in the U.S. but my Lucy and Yak orders arrive faster than trying to ship something from Target. Weird.
I love the colour and I mostly liked the shape however a little tailoring was required as the trousers pinched in at the bottom of the pockets and then went wide giving an odd shape. Nothing that a quick bit of needle and thread didn’t solve but for £95 I did expect them to be perfect!
Thanks for leaving a review. I am sorry to hear that these didn’t work out for you! Did you get in touch with us about this at all? We would have loved to help if they were a faulty pair.
It’s great to hear that you got them fitted the way you like though! I hope you love them now.
Amazing, I sized up this time and the fit is much better length wise, teamed with a belt . Bright happy winter trousers
I had such high hopes for these but they are just not a good shape for everyone. I bought a 36 as that's my measured waist size and while they fit me snuggly high up over my belly button, the crotch hung so low that it looked like they were three sizes too big.
In addition, the hips were so wide the overall look was incredibly unflattering and just awful. Despite the beautiful tie dye I immediately sent them back.
I wish these were made for people with normal sized hips and bums not kardashian sized women. The average woman doesn't have a small waist and a massive bum and thighs. Very disappointed.
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. I'm sorry to hear that the Addison style wasn't quite right for you. This style is based on a vintage jean, so is designed to be super high waisted and very roomy on the hips/bum. I'm sad to hear how disappointed you are with the fit though! We have just added some cord colours in our Dallas mom-stlyle jeans, which are slimmer fitting on the hips, so I wonder if this style might be a better option. We'll be adding new colours and fabrics to this range in 2021 too.
