Meet Leigh - our beautiful Midi Pini Dress, made right here in Britain by our amazing team.
Thick cotton twill in a dark Olive with a Cream top stitch. A longer length than our Freyja midi pinis by a few inches, these will come on average to the middle of the calf!
She has our signature tie straps, a chest pocket with tuck detail and large pockets at the hips.
Layer her over your fave tees and jumpers, dress her up with smart shoes or down with some chunky docs!
ABOUT THE COLLECTION
Following on from the success of working with our partners and teams in India, we wanted to bring skilled textile jobs back to Yorkshire with the same ethical production ethos. Yorkshire is our home and was once famous for its thriving textile industry - Barnsley itself used to be home to thousands of garment workers and was a huge source of identity and community for the area.
As the factories closed down, it left many skilled workers unemployed and no longer able to use their skills and years of experience and knowledge. We believe creating and sustaining well paid and rewarding jobs is one of the best ways to benefit a community and that’s what we try to do both in India and the UK.
This second Made in Britain collection consists of 9 pieces and includes reworked pini dresses, midi pinis and cargo trousers, featuring signature Lucy & Yak design statements and new colourways lime green and strawberry pink. We’ve used practical hardwearing fabrics (thick 100% cotton twill) from a local Yorkshire family run business who have been developing high quality fabrics since 1901. With large pockets, classic shapes and utility details with modern twists on traditional colour pallets. The collection is shot at an old local colliery, paying homage to the old industries of Barnsley and the communities that live and work here.
This is a limited run of only 90 pieces in each style - we have an expanded collection and further sizing in the pipeline for the future.

I love this dress so very much! I’m 5”2 and curvy - in between a 12 & 14. I went for 12 and it fits so well, not clingy, but not shapeless either and is really flattering. It looks lovely with a belt and also without. At first when I tried it on I thought the skirt may benefit from a split in the back as where it sits on me is low calf so wondered if it would be restrictive in moving (I run art workshops so always carrying things, running from place to place, bending etc) however I wore it around town yesterday and there were no issues even jumping over puddles - it was super comfy and easy to move in. I also got the red midi pini too and love them, and the story behind their manufacture. 💜
I'm absolutely in love with these. I've heard people say they'll only look good on people with a straight figure, but I'm curvy myself (99 chest, 85 waist, 101 hips) and I'm so happy with the fit (I got a size 14), even or maybe especially without a belt. It's a nice length for me as well, I'm 1.81 m (6 ft?) and it falls at like 2/3 of my calves from the ground up if that makes sense? About 10 cm past my knees I'd say , which is perfect for me. I love the practical utility vibe combined with a gorgeous chique slim fit.
Please make this exact dress in all the colours.
Amazing fit, amazing colour, gorgeous material, contrast stitching, utilitarian, on trend, all the things in a dress that make me gleeful.
I love you guys. Xx
I have just received/put on my Leigh Pini morning n Olive !!! It’s really exceptional quality - love the colour and the contrast stitching. Most of all the cut has a stylish utilitarian look that I LOVE. So happy !!
