The first drop of our WAHP x L&Y Collab is now live!
We’re so happy to be collaborating with the fabulous We Are Hairy People - the Bristol-based independent clothing brand and social enterprise, founded by artist Sarah Caulfield, that champions using art and fashion as therapy for mental wellness. All work is made-to-order, organic, ethically produced and plastic-free!
Instead of over-producing brand new items, we wanted to get creative and up-cycle some of your favourite styles; our Addison jeans and Stanley t-shirt. Each piece is made to order and entirely unique, using hand-dyeing and hand-painting techniques by the artists in the studio.
Due to this, this particular mini collection is priced higher than our regular limited edition collections – as a collaboration with an independent art studio and considering the labour and higher costs that go into creating ethical pieces in the UK. All products are hand painted and ice-dyed by the We Are Hairy Team of artists – who are super passionate about paying more than the living wage. As a living wage employer, we are fully on board with this! Eco-dyes are also a little pricier than standard dyes.
How many will there be, we hear you ask? This will be a small first drop with limited sizes as WAHP can up-cycle only so many at a time! As we haven't made new pieces but are up-cycling existing favourites already in stock - there is also limit on available sizing. To make sure there is fair chance of getting what you are after, we're going to release this collection across a couple of dedicated drops. So don't worry! — if you miss out on bagging your size this time around, you’ll be able to sign up to be notified when the next drop lands soon.
Sarah and the WAHP team will be getting to work on the second drop over the next month or so, and we'll keep you in the loop if you're signed up for alerts!
This special piece is our Classic Stanley tee - a relaxed shape with round neck and a generous length.
Each piece has been hand ice-dyed in beautiful marbled tones of Blue and Yellow on a Pink base, creating completely unique patterns of turquoises and greens - which we just think look lie the most delicious clouds ever! Each piece is one of a kind and a complete masterpiece within itself! See our Instagram to see videos of the mesmerising ice-dying process!
In soft and breathable 100% organic cotton, which is GOTS certified (one of the highest standards of cotton production, and ensures strict environmental and social responsibility in its production and whole supply chain)
Due to the nature of ice dye, each piece is completely unique and will differ to the pieces photographed.
Please wash inside out with similar colours in case of colour running, on a low spin cycle and a short wash. Keep inside out when washing and drying - see more details about the care of your L&Y clothing here.

I hadn't tried Addisons before but I couldn't resist the We Are Hairy People collab. They're the perfect fit and are probably some of the most flattering trousers I've tried. The sizing charts are accurate - I tried the 26" and 28" and the 28" was perfect - just as the size chart led me to believe, I only ordered the extra pair as I knew these would sell out. I've had lots of lovely comments from people on them and, more importantly, they make me feel great!
I am so happy that I purchased this tee! I hesitated at first, simply because of the higher price point (and my bank balance looking a little heavy of the L&Y side of things since lockdown!) BUT I am so happy I clicked the checkout button. My only regret is that I didn’t buy both colours! The material, as ever, is incredibly soft and feels gorgeous on the skin – the quality of the cotton shines through. The tie dye is fabulous too. When I first took it out of the packaging I wasn’t sure I liked it, but when I put it on any and all doubts were lifted - it is the bees knees! I would say the sizing is true to size; I bought the biggest size available and it’s a little snugger than I would have liked (again, blaming lockdown for that one). I completely understand why these are more expensive than the normal tees – each is a unique piece of art and no two will ever be the same. I think that’s incredible and it makes me love it even more. It is mine and no one else has one like it! I also feel a tremendous amount of joy when I think about the artists hands working on it and taking the time to make it look beautiful and unique. Utterly in love and will probably purchase the other one when it’s restocked! <3
