Meet Zachary, our new Limited Edition dungaree!
Designed in-house by our wonderful print designer Elspeth Mills. With a love of bold prints, abstract shapes and experimenting with bright colour combinations, her background is in print design and she has been hard at work designing lots of lovely prints for our new collections! This is the very first of her dungaree designs to come through and we're so happy to introduce you to Zachary!
With it's pink geometric background and fluid, abstract neon and cobalt accents, this is a truly eye-catching design drawing inspiration from the patterns of the 80's and 90's, and looks great with so many colours underneath!
Printed on an 100% Organic Cotton twill, this is in the slightly thicker twill of our more recent LE's, with more shape and texture. The colours are deep and really pop!
These are our classic cut dungaree - an oversized fit with signature adjustable tie straps, 3 front pockets and a tapered leg, perfect for rolling up for a slouchy look.
Please note this was a partial shipment and there will be an extra drop of sizes 20L and 22L to follow very soon - we'll do an announcement when they're here but sign up to back in stock emails in your size to be notified as soon as they arrive in stock! The regular leg lengths in these sizes are available as normal now.
Jazz is a UK 8-10, 5ft6 and wears 10R
Meg is a UK 16, 5ft8 and wears 16R
Lu (@luinluland) is a size 10 and wears 10R
These come in our new sizing structure - changes which are coming into action gradually so that we can accurately expand the number and the quality of the sizes we offer, and nail the consistency and grading across the whole range.
With our Original, Umi and Limited Edition cut, the only real change is the addition of two extra sizes: 20 and 22 - which would equate to our 3XL and 4XL. The patterns are exactly the same for sizes 6-18, nothing has changed here, so just buy the size you usually buy.
Every size (except 6) comes in two leg lengths, with two inches extra for those taller among us!
To avoid extra numerical confusion, "R" (Regular) is now our 30" leg, and "L" (Long) is now our 32" leg.
All equivalents are still labelled and a size chart is available above, but pop us a message if you have any questions!
These are my 9th pair of Lucy and Yaks and I bought my usual size of 12l or m32 and usually I could roll the legs up a few times, however these were not long enough and were tight around the lower leg. Also found the hips were way bigger than usual and looked silly and the body was shorter than normal so couldn’t tie higher than armpit level (I’m 5’9 and small busted). Loved the print, however I had to return them for strange sizing compared to other pairs. Still love L&Y to the moon and back though!
This was my first pair of dungarees in this specific style so I wasn’t sure how they were going to fit. Because there are no buttons or zippers on the sides the waist is huge on me because it has to fit over my hips, so when it’s completely on it looks a bit silly (luckily I’m just going to take them in myself, but something to think about when ordering your size). Other than that the print is adorable and the fabric is a nice lightweight material so they are perfect for summer!
I ordered these in XS, since my XXS cord originals are a bit too narrow in the calves and way too short (and XXS size doesn't have a long version, which is a shame, I mean really, without rolling them I'm showing off half of my calf and I'm not a tall person - please guys, think about us skinny customers). So I thought "maybe the longer xs would be just right". And the length is perfect, I can even roll the legs a bit but...THE HIPS ARE SOOOOOO ROOMY. The xxs originals were just the size of my hips and even though I expected that now I would have some space left...well, now I have an impression that I could fit in the xs (just a size up!) twice. Or pregnant. So it's a shame, I wanted to wear these with shorter tops for summer but I'm a bit scared that I would actually show off my underpants.
The print is gorgeous, the material perfect, colours dreamy - but something is very wrong with the sizing (especially considering that L&Y tops in xs fit like a tight bra and are a nice fit in s, so now I'm stretched between xxs and s and still hoping for the perfect dungaree size...). So I'm a bit heartbroken (also for the first time my order came without a sari bag, is this a covid thing? so no surprise sari bag to sweeten my tears;)), because other than the GIANT HIPS I'm in love. Guess I would wear them anyway - sit down and fix it with a sewing machine or just wait till I get bigger and until then use a belt :P
And I'm still hoping for the "xxs long" size someday!
I am very satisfied with these Yaks! I love the colours, which give you the option to style loads of other colours underneath, and the cotton material feels sturdy but not restrictive. I do agree with other reviews that these come up larger compared to other runs as I ordered a 14 and a 16 and the 14 came out best. I am normally a 16 in other styles. That said, the size 16 didn't swamp me so I would have been happy to keep them ❤ Thanks L&Y
These are super cute! I love the print and the pockets are pretty functional. I do think they run a bit wide- I probably could have sized down and been comfortable, though I might possibly have run into length issues. The torso is kind of short, but for me that isn’t as issue because my torso is kind of short (but if I sized down I could see that being an issue). My one main concern is that I agree with a previous reviewer that the fabric is pilling rather quickly. I’ve worn them twice now to run some errands and they’ve already pilled more than my Big Bud Press jumpsuits, which are also made from printed cotton twill and I have worn extensively. I’m hoping they don’t wear through too quickly- I’m willing to pay more for ethically made garments because usually they also last longer than cheaper fast fashion brands, but the pilling does have me concerned about the longevity of these.
