At Lucy & Yak, we are deeply committed to circularity because we believe that creating high-quality clothing is not just about durability but also responsibility. We aim to make products that last a lifetime and remain in circulation, reducing waste and environmental impact.
Circularity is at the heart of our mission, driving us to find resourceful ways to keep our products with you and out of landfills. We offer various initiatives under our Re:Yak programme, which includes, Re:Yak PreLoved, Re:Yak Studio, Re:Yak (Im)Perfects, our Re:Yak Workshops and the Re:Yak Marketplace.
These efforts allow you to enjoy our products at reduced price points while contributing to a sustainable future.
Re:Yak PreLoved
Our PreLoved collection features Yaks that have been previously loved by someone else and are looking for a new home, as well as upcycled and repaired products from our in-house seamstress Cat in her Re:Yak Studio in Yorkshire. PreLoved Yaks are then resold through our stores.
With your help we’re keeping products out of landfill and bringing more Lucy & Yak to more people.
You can easily return your Yaks in any condition either online or in-store. Please wash your Yaks before returning them.
Once processed, you’ll receive a money-off voucher for your next Yaks.
Our PreLoved project is currently only available in the UK.
Re:Yak Studio
We’re passionate about keeping our products in circulation and out of landfill. That’s why we created the Re:Yak Studio based in Barnsley, where our seamstress Cat works her magic, upcycling and repairing products into beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces resold in our stores.
Cat shares her upcycling skills at our Re:Yak Workshops in-store and at our events across the country.
Can’t make it in person or need a quick refresher? Watch our Re:Yak How To series with Cat (coming very soon!), where you can learn how to embroider, darn and more, at your own pace.
Re:Yak (Im)Perfects
Discover our (Im)Perfects collection—Yaks with minor issues or defects that are still completely wearable and lovable.
Visit our dedicated (Im)Perfects outlet store, open all year round, to find great deals and save items from landfills.
You can find exclusive one-off samples at our pop-up events across the UK.
Keep your eyes on our socials for our upcoming (Im)Perfects announcements.
Re:Yak Workshops
Held across our shops, at festivals and events across the UK, our Re:Yak Workshops bring together talented creatives and community members to upcycle Yaks.
From embroidery to painting to lino printing and more, our workshops can inspire your own upcycling projects.
Upcycling breathes new life into old clothes, reducing waste and promoting sustainability. Whether you're a seasoned crafter or just starting, it’s a fun and creative way to personalise your wardrobe.
Stay tuned to our socials for event announcements, inspiration, and tips on refreshing your Yaks.
A thriving community, this is the space where you can buy, sell and trade your Yaks with others.
Give your Yaks a new lease of life by passing them on to someone else, while also picking up the Yaks you’ve had your eyes on for less.
Terms and Conditions
Every voucher will have a £50 minimum spend attached e.g. £20 voucher for a pair of dungarees with £50 minimum spend. The voucher must be redeemed within 6 months of the receipt.
Customers will receive one voucher per product. For example, if you brought back x4 pairs of dungarees, you would get x4 £20 vouchers (with £50 minimum spend attached to each).
PreLoved pieces must have a full and intact neck/back label. We cannot accept items back for Re:Yak PreLoved if they are missing a neck/back label or if the neck/back label is cut or damaged in any way.
Clean tights, socks, hair accessories & underwear bottoms will be accepted for recycling but we do not offer a voucher in exchange for these products.
The voucher must be redeemed within 6 months of receipt.
Vouchers are limited to one per transaction, with a minimum spend of £50. Vouchers cannot be used in conjunction with any other discount.
As long as the item is from Lucy & Yak, we’ll accept it!
There’s no limit on how many Yaks you can bring back, and you’ll get a voucher for each item you return - win, win!
Nope! The price is only reflected in the type of Yaks you are returning. Eg. a pair of dungarees vs. a belt.
Just make sure that your item has an intact neck/back label and is clean and washed so that we can accept your Re:Yak!
This is for the safety of our store staff as they will be handling the items.
This is a brand new scheme for us, and at this stage we don’t know what percentage of the products returned will need to be recycled. This will cost us a lot to process, so in order for us to offer this to everyone, for any condition, we have added the £50 minimum spend. If your Yaks are in great condition and you would usually sell them elsewhere for more, then this scheme may not be for you. For us this is another way to broaden our Re:Yak offering, to keep clothes on people and out of landfill. Make sure you check out our Facebook Marketplace, Depop & Ebay for even more ways to Re:Yak!
We are looking at how we can open this up to more regions and online but these things take time!
At the moment our stores can’t handle deliveries from customers but we are looking at how we can offer this to more regions in the future – watch this space!
