Refugee Council x Lucy & Yak Sheffield
Refugee Council x Lucy & Yak Sheffield
Join the Refugee Council in store for a pop-up exhibition designed and created by Afghan refugee women to celebrate World Refugee Day.
The sewing group in Doncaster & Sheffield have transformed second-hand and pre-loved materials (including curtains, tablecloths, and scrap fabrics from Lucy & Yak) into a unique collection of handcrafted garments. By keeping the colours and patterns simple, the makers have created beautiful pieces that bring together traditional Afghan embroidery and stitching techniques with contemporary Western-style clothing.
Every item has been made by hand, celebrating creativity, sustainability, and cultural heritage. We really hope you enjoy the exhibition and the stories woven into every piece.
