50,000 Yaks. This is enormous.

This is not a little milestone. This is ENORMOUS.

 

In just three years, you’ve helped keep 50,000 Lucy & Yak pieces in  circulation through Re:YAK PreLoved. Fifty thousand old favourites, paint splats, patched knees, ripped pockets, missing buttons and very well loved Yaks given somewhere new to go.

 

Stack them all up and they’d be as tall as two Eiffel Towers. Imagine that for a second. TWO EIFFEL TOWERS MADE OF YAKS.

 

We are proud. Properly, shout it from the rooftops proud. But the best bit is that every single one of those 50,000 pieces got another chapter because somebody decided it was not finished yet.

 

And 50,000 is not a tidy little number on a spreadsheet. It is years of school runs, first dates, festivals, muddy walks, paint splats, dance floors and pockets full of receipts. It is 50,000 pieces with whole lives behind them and plenty left ahead.

This milestone belongs to everyone who brought back something they no longer wore. Everyone who chose PreLoved. Everyone who repaired, reworked, passed on or kept wearing a Yak. Everyone who looked at a piece with a few miles on it and saw something ready to be loved again.

 

Thank you for every return, every repair, every rewear and every Re:YAK. Thank you for helping us prove that a well loved Yak is not finished. It is just waiting for its next love.

 

Fifty thousand pieces in just three years. Two Eiffel Towers of Yaks. One enormous community effort. We could not be prouder, and we are only getting started.

 

Here’s to the first 50,000. And the next 50,000. And every Yak still out there with another chapter in it.

 

So 50,000 deserves a proper celebration. We’re bringing The Big PreLoved Sale to 16 cities across the UK for four days, from 24-27 Sep. Four days to find something PreLoved, vintage or secondhand and get it back out in the world, where clothes belong.

Now for the idea behind it all.

 

Re:Yak began in 2023 because we believe something very simple and very strongly. If a brand makes a product, that brand should take responsibility for the whole life of that product.

 

Not just the lovely new bit. Not just while it is hanging in a shop or being folded into a parcel. The scuffed knees, the paint splats, the repairs, the hand me downs, the moment its first owner is finished with it and the piece itself still has plenty left to give. All of it.

 

We made it. We should care what happens to it next. That was the founding idea behind Re:Yak, and 50,000 pieces later, it feels more important than ever.

 

Because clothes should not travel in a straight line from new to gone. Good clothes have chapters. They get worn, passed on, repaired, rediscovered and loved all over again. A scuffed knee or a paint mark does not make a piece less special. Quite often, it is the bit that makes it.

 

That is what Re:Yak is. Our way of keeping Yaks and their materials moving for as long as possible, instead of deciding a piece is finished when there might be plenty of life left in it.

You can Re:YAK any genuine Lucy & Yak piece, in ANY condition, as long as it is clean and still has its Lucy & Yak label.

 

Bought it directly from us? Lovely. Bought it somewhere else? Absolutely. Got it as a gift? Of course. Thrifted it, found it at a car boot, picked it up in a charity shop or discovered it at the back of a wardrobe? We want it.

 

Worn through, torn, stained, split, scuffed, missing a button or hanging on by a thread. Any condition really does mean any condition.

 

There is one exception. The only Lucy & Yak you cannot Re:YAK is a stolen one. If it is not yours, it is not yours to Re:YAK. Put it back, pal. We love circularity. We do not love nicking things.

 

Bring it into any Lucy & Yak store or Re:YAK online. We’ll give you a money off voucher, then work out the best possible next chapter for every piece.

 

If it is ready for a new home, it is cleaned and resold as PreLoved. If it is truly beyond wearing, its fibres can go to Bright Recycling and become dog bed filling.

 

Return. Reward. Rehome. Repair. Remake. Recycle. ReLove. That is the Re:YAK loop, keeping Yaks and their materials moving for as long as possible.

Fifty thousand is an enormous number, but this is what it looks like up close. Two people, a well loved Yak on the table and the belief that it is worth saving.
