Away from the screen, she’s usually creating something with her hands.
“While most of my career consists of digital illustration, I have a deep love for fiber arts that I continue to return to. I’ve explored chainstitch embroidery, rug tufting, knitting, cross-stitch, and the list goes on.”
All that crafting found its way to her first every repeat pattern.
“Illustrating a pattern feels a bit like piecing quilt blocks together by moving colors and shapes around (and doing quite a bit of math) until the pattern feels balanced.”
And this one’s been a long time coming. Monique’s designs paired with our organic cottons could not be a better match this autumn.
“This is the first time I get to see my work as a clothing collection and I could not be more excited!”
“I love the playful fabric patterns and color palettes that I’ve seen at Lucy & Yak and I am very excited to see my artwork included as a collection, and for this collection to feel so ‘me.’”
And the piece she’ll be reaching for first?
“I’m going to live in the boxy t-shirt!”
