Miyada - Brushed Cotton Dungarees in Grunge Blue Paisley Print

These dungarees are really well made. The bib is lined, the fabric soft and warm and the look/ design really complimentary and stylish.

In the past, I wore your largest size or the next size down, depending on the design of the garment. Of course you have just discontinued your largest size. Last summer I got two pair of Ali overalls in your largest size and they were WAY too big, so when I saw the beautiful pink Miyadas - JUST what I wanted - I figured it was worth taking the risk and ordering your current largest size. I was both right - the Miyadas fit me beautifully - and wrong - it is very tricky to get them off and on because of the design. Like many humans, my hips are the widest part of my body, and getting these over my hips is a very, very tight squeeze. Once over the hump(s), so to speak, they are just perfect and comfy and adorable! If there was a button closure on the sides, like the Alis have, or some elastic that allowed the garment to expand as it slides over the hips, they would be perfect. What I'm about to do is take chunks of the covered elastic from the ankles, which are way too big and need to be tightened up, and inserting it into the sides. Wish me luck!

I adore the Rumi trousers so much (4 pairs and counting!) and this dungaree is clearly inspired by them, so it seemed like a perfect match! Unfortunately, for as excited as I was to receive these, putting them on was not exactly the great experience I have had previously. I bought a UK 14 as per usual for L&Y purchases, and it does fit nicely in length (I am 164.5cm) and in the waist, but it completely ignores the fact I have an entire lower body the dungarees need to get over in order first.

I am rating these two stars because while I do love them and will be keeping my pair this is only because I like them enough to take them to a tailor and workshop a solution where they can comfortably get over my thighs without the seams popping, but it's a shame I even have to do that. The Rumi trousers are - well - roomy, and part of that is being elasticated. Even if they wanted to go for something more fitted for the Miyadas then a reworked and more fitted version of the Ali dungarees double sided waist buttons would work perfectly and be far more functional than this

I understand this is a new item but it definitely needs to be workshopped, because at present there is no give for your weight to fluctuate even a little bit with these unless you are losing weight, which was my immediate thought when hearing some of the seams snapping as I put it on the first time and is not the disheartening experience I wish to associate with Lucy & Yak, especially in the current climate with the UK size 32 (4XL) sizes being discontinued entirely.

With all that said I really hope these dungarees stick around and are improved upon as they have the potential to be such a staple L&Y item I think 🫶
