I don't always leave reviews but I've come to leave one here specifically for the curvy girls because some of the reviews on this Drew fit made me delay ordering this style for a while, and I wish they hadn't as I love them.
I usually only wear the Addisons which are a perfect shape for me - I have wide hips with a 2 size difference between my waist at its skinniest point and my hips at their widest part. This limits me mostly to high rise jeans only. I usually have to buy a 14 to fit comfortably over my hips, then pay a tailor to tidily take the waist down to a 10, as even with a belt there's just too much fabric bunching for comfort/it just looks stupid. The tapered waist but baggy fit of the Addisons allows me to buy a smaller size but are still roomy enough to fit over my hips. I know the style works so I have them in every possible colour way. Brill. Big recommend those too.
But I loved the embroidered heart on denim Drews so much and desperately wanted them, but firstly they're marked as mid rise, and don't have the tapered waist that makes the Addisons work for my completely stupid body shape. Reviews were marmite, either amazing, or hated the fit around the belly. I chanced a 14 to get them over my hips just to see how high the button really went. Great news! Even or mid they go pretty high, and I essentially wear them as a high rise fit! (although they can ofc be worn lower) And I sized down to a 12 which is a good compromise. Still a bit baggy over the waist but shape wise, with a belt they're manageable without tailoring whilst still fitting comfortably over my hips. I now have the Drews in the hearts and Maria print.
What I'm basically saying is, I know jeans and their fit is a nightmare for curvy girls, it's been a lifelong issue for me too. The Addison's are great and I love them, but their fit is to also accentuate those curves with the tapered waist and thick button band. With these Drews, yes, you can obviously still see my hips, but I think they look much more just like a standard jean fit, if I want to wear something that's not purposely accentuating/showing off curves. As I know sometimes that's just not the vibe we want.
This isn't to say either of these styles won't work on not curvy girls! Neither are going to be super tight as they are both a looser cut, my almost sickeningly petite af friend (in a good/jealousy way, she's not actually sick) has both styles and looks great too, they obviously just sit on her body differently to me.
A quick comment on the length as a few reviews mention them being super short - they are a cropped style so like... yeah? I roll up every pair of jeans anyway because God knows I did not pay as much as I have to tattoo most of my body and not get my money's worth show them off, so most trousers I like to let sit at least mid shin? Just below that maybe? I roll up the Addisons 3-4 times to get that height. With these I just turn over the hem twice. So tbh I don't think these are THAT cropped at all. They do definitely make you flash considerable ankle though so consider that when buying.
