When I first started seeing barrel leg jeans and trousers, I really wasn’t into them at all. However, since then, ive done a total 180, mainly from seeing people on social media look stunning in them.
Cream is one of my fave colours. And polka dots are a classic, so I just had to try these. With a gift card burning a hole in my pocket, I was so desperate to try a pair, but they sold out super quickly. However, I kept checking the website, and one day, a few pairs were restocked in my size! I snapped them up, and am really happy I did.
I have tried a few L&Y trousers in the past, where I’ve felt like if the fabric was a bit less rigid, they would be perfect. Well, these are perfect. The denim is more lightweight than I expected. While it is still a quality fabric, it sits much better and falls more pleasingly than the heavier denims and twills used in trousers like Addisons. I’d love to see more of their cuts in this slightly lighter weight denim tbh. I feel like the way it affects drape and flow is a game changer. It still holds a statement barrel shape, but feels and looks more stylish and “expensive” than the quite committed barrel cut would in a stiffer material!
The sizing is generous. I am about a 10 atm, I bought the 8, and it’s pretty roomy. I’m 5’6” and it’s a nice cropped length, though an extra inch wouldn’t hurt. It’s not make or break though, it would work a bit shorter or a bit longer.
I really love these. My absolute dream would be the cut in L&Y’s stunning ecru shade, but these are super versatile and the dots are cute and stylish. I don’t really see L&Y outdoing themselves after this launch. These trousers are probably going to be my absolute purchase of the year and will be worn non stop.
