We never want to see a good pair of Yaks go to waste, even if they have minor issues or defects. The (Im)perfect Yak hub lists official Lucy & Yak stores you can bag pieces that aren’t 100% perfect, but still 100% fab ✨ So we keep them out of landfill, looking out for the circular economy 💚

Our Anti-Landfill Action

 SOLD AS (IM)PERFECTS:
We have alway prioritised keeping clothing out of landfill, clothing production has many moving parts, and mistakes do happen, but we strive to salvage waste, and sell seconds / faulty products through our official platforms and always will where we can - such as our (Im)perfect Marketplace or Depop channel and more recently our official Ebay page.

YAKS DONATED TO THREAD AHEAD:
Thread ahead
is one our partners in the UK providing refugees new clothing - rescuing surplus clothes and redirecting them to people with insecure immigration status.

Our ongoing annual donations support their continued work to help families and individuals who need it the most and ensuring all our perfectly (Im)perfect Yaks are kept in circulation.

SOLD AS UPCYCLED ACCESSORIES:

When a garment is cut from a roll of fabric, there is always little sections of the fabric left over, in odd shapes and sizes. We try to use as much of this as possible to make smaller items such as bags, hats, aprons & other accessories. This reduces the amount of waste that is created in the process, and means you get some super cute matching hats & bags to style with your Yaks.

THIRD PARTY WHOLESALERS:
This is an absolute last resort to ensure no Yaks go to landfill. On rare occasions, due to more major faults, including fabric strength & dye quality, items are sold to a wholesaler. Our suppliers work with wholesalers that sell garments into the local market with the labels removed, ensuring they don’t go to waste. Whenever imperfects are sold by third parties we are fully supportive to keep these in circulation.

This is not the end of our circular journey, we are always looking for new ways that we can improve, we have more exciting projects coming very soon!
