Meet Florrie's Café
It’s time to shine a light on a fellow independent business we are LOVING.
Meet Florrie’s Café; Family-owned and full of heart.
Florrie’s Cafe was founded by partners Guy & Kate and named after their daughter Florence. Serving up some of the best locally roasted coffee in Redhill, they’ve created a true community hub where everyone’s welcome to connect and feel at home.
We offer 40% off Lucy & Yak workwear with our Indie Biz Discount. We know it can be tough doing business. So we've decided to help by offering our sustainably made workwear at a reduced cost. Find out about our Indie Biz scheme here.

Where did the inspiration for Florrie's come from?
The idea for Florrie’s was born after our daughter Florence arrived. We spent days walking laps of our local park with the pram, which at the time had a vacant café, and we thought…we could do this! Guy, a professional bassist, also had experience as a barista and café manager in his younger years, giving us the perfect foundation to build on.
Together, we dreamed up everything from the décor and overall vibe to the menu itself, even naming our drinks and dishes with playful nods to music (including a milkshake called “Muffin But A Hound Dog” - thank you very much).
A few months later, we took the plunge and put in an offer on the space, and the rest is history. It’s been a rollercoaster, but we absolutely love what we’ve created - and Florence is the ultimate girl boss - and keeps us motivated.
What is the best thing about being an independent business?
There are so many positives to being an independent business, but the biggest one is the creative freedom. We have the licence to play with product ideas, host fun craft events, and shape every detail of our brand and decor. For example, we had a blank wall and Kate’s brother who’s an artist came in and painted an incredible mural for us. Being independent means we can follow the ideas we love and make the space truly our own.
What do you love about the community you’re in?
Since opening the café, we’ve never felt more connected to the place we live, and it’s made us fall in love with our community even more. We meet people from all walks of life, and have become part of their daily routines and their life stories - it’s incredibly special and completely unexpected. From watching babies grow up before our eyes to hosting a living wake for one of our much-loved elderly customers (who is still very much going!), it’s been a true privilege. We also love how supportive and genuinely invested the community is. People don’t just come in for a coffee - they are cheering us on. They show up to our events, they visit even in the pouring rain and they bring their friends & family! It’s amazing.
