The GUPPYFRIEND washing bag is the first practical way to prevent microfibres from entering into rivers and oceans. Its soft surface results in fewer fibre losses and thus helps your garments last longer. Those microfibres that break during washing are captured inside the bag.
- material: polyamid 6.6 untreated
- size: 50 x 74 cm /19,7”x 29,1”
With each wash, countless plastic fibers from synthetic textiles are making their way from washing machines into rivers and oceans. The Guppyfriend washing bag filters out the tiniest microfibres released from textiles during washing. The self-cleaning fabric bag is made of a specially designed micro-filter material. Simply collect the fibres after each wash and dispose of them.
When I first saw the price, I was in doubt. But I'm so happy I bought this. It's way bigger than I thought so a lot fits inside and it came with more clever washing tipps. I even share it with a friend because we both don't wash that often and it's very doable :) It also made me pay more attention to the fabric my clothes have. Very very satisfied!

Guppy Friend Wash Bag
Since finding out about the damage that acrylic fibres do to the environment, I was all for getting rid of all my acrylic jumpers, until I realised they would probably remain in the system somewhere. Then I found out about Guppy Friend bags and realised that would be the answer; keep the jumpers but reduce their damage to the environment. The mesh of the bag is so very close and fine, I thought at first the clothes inside wouldn’t wash properly (or even get wet!), but so far, so good. The instructions tell you not to pack the bag more than half-full with clothing, so if you were washing a lot of acrylic items at once, you might well need more than one bag, which gets a bit expensive! However, it’s quite large in size - bigger than I expected. I wash acrylics together with viscose, cotton and wool knitwear, so one Guppy Friend has been enough. I haven’t found any problems with unbalanced loads when using the bag so far, but I do load the machine fully for each wash. I think I need to buy one as a present for everyone I know!
