Join the Refugee Council in store for a pop-up exhibition designed and created by Afghan refugee women to celebrate World Refugee Day.

The sewing group in Doncaster & Sheffield have  transformed second-hand and pre-loved materials (including curtains, tablecloths, and scrap fabrics from Lucy & Yak) into a unique collection of handcrafted garments. By keeping the colours and patterns simple, the makers have created beautiful pieces that bring together traditional Afghan embroidery and stitching techniques with contemporary Western-style clothing.

Every item has been made by hand, celebrating creativity, sustainability, and cultural heritage. We really hope you enjoy the exhibition and the stories woven into every piece.

The original concept, artistic vision and stylistic direction was created by Monazzah Nikzad

The photography was by Abdul Momin Noori

The floral drawings were designed by Ameneh Ehsani

The cakes and treats were made by @its.sweetcake

The crochet work was created by Doniagozal Saljughi
